Grazia (Berardi) Gaio

Rotterdam - Grazia (Grace) Gaio, 89, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully on Thursday January 10, 2013 at the Baptist Retirement Center with her family by her side. Born in Mola Bari, Italy on July 19, 1923, Grazia came to Flushing, Queens in 1962. She then came to the Schenectady area in 2002. Her husband, Nicola Gaio, died in 1980. She is survived by her 5 children; Maria Brown, Giovanna Leopold, Elaine Sayid, Anthony Gaio and Stella Coonin. Her sister; Giovanna Berardi. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Grazia was predeceased by her son, Alessandro Gaio and 5 brothers. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will start 8:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam.
