Schenectady – Grace T. Santille Hanson, 90, passed away Thursday January 7th at 1:28 pm due to Covid-19 and as feisty as Grace was she could not fight it. Born in Utica, Grace was the daughter of John and Rosemary Santille. She grew up in Bellevue and graduated from St. Columba’s High School. In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Grace worked in the millinery department for Marty Friedman atFlah’s in Colonie Center. Being the entrepreneur that she was Grace opened her own business, The Hairpin Inn, on Central Ave. in Colonie. Later Grace was a branch manager for OTB and also loved the OTB teletheatre in Albany. Grace loved to exercise which included swimming at the Ramada Inn in Schenectady where she would paddle in the pool and use the sauna. While in the nursing home she was like the energizer bunny while using her walker. She was a fantastic Italian cook and loved to make Italian dinners for her family. Grace was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Kermit Hanson. Two daughters; Debra Rose Martiniano and Cheryl J. Flahive. Three grandchildren; Danielle, Alexandra and Kevin Joseph Flahive Jr. Grace is also survived by her best friend, Carolyn. The family extends their special thanks to the staff and aides at the Ellis Residential Center A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 10-11am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. An 11 am prayer service will immediately follow. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica.
