Grace J (Carl) Haessig

Grace Josephine Haessig, 92, of Rotterdam, passed away at her home on Monday, October 6, 2014. Grace was born in Oswego, NY on September 9, 1922 to Anna Corbally Carl and Delos Miller Carl. She graduated from Oswego High School and was accepted at SUNY Oswego, but did not attend. She married William Burke Haessig on April 26, 1943 while he was home on a three day pass from the Air Force during WWII. Grace was predeceased by her husband William B. Haessig, who died in 1995, her parents; Anna and Delos Carl, as well as her siblings; Anita Riley (Joseph), Elizabeth Ingersoll (Robert), Margaret Carl, Paul Carl (Virginia), Francis Carl (Barbara), Jeanne Carl and Geraldine Carl. She is survived by eight children; Patricia Anne of Oswego, NY, Peter William Haessig (Mary) of Gansevoort, NY, Brian Joseph Haessig (Christine) of Oswego, NY, Charles Gerard Haessig (Jill) of Mariaville Lake, NY, Nancy Elizabeth delPrado (Thomas) of Rotterdam, NY, Mary Louise Merone (Stephen) of Somers, CT., Martha Jean Lashin (Kenneth) of Rotterdam, NY and Ellen Marie Brumaghim (Bruce) of Rotterdam, NY, 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, her brother; James Carl (Susan) of Florida and her sisters in law; Barbara Carl (Francis) of Rotterdam and Virginia Carl (Paul) of Rochester. NY. Grace dedicated her life to her husband and raising her eight children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10 am at St. Gabriel's Church, Hamburg St. Rotterdam. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the William B. and Grace J. Haessig Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Mohonasen Central School District Business Office, 2072 Curry Rd., Schenectady, NY 12303.
