Gloria B. DiBlase, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026. Born in Schenectady on November 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Angelina (DeCata) Riggi.
After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, Gloria began her career as a clerk with General Electric before continuing her work at Union College. She later served Schenectady County for many years, retiring in 1999.
Gloria lived a life centered on family, faith, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful. She was a devoted member of the former St. John the Baptist Church and later St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady.
She found happiness in quiet mornings spent solving crossword puzzles with a cup of coffee, getting lost in a good book, listening to music, and cheering on her beloved New York Mets. Cape Cod held a special place in her heart, and she treasured every opportunity to visit its beaches and enjoy time there with those she loved. One of Gloria's greatest joys was her beloved rescue Shih Tzu, Charlie, whose loyal companionship brought her comfort, friendship, and unconditional love.
Above all, Gloria was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her spirit, kindness, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert, in 2009, and by her brother, Richard Riggi.
She leaves behind her loving daughter Rosanna and son-in-law Christopher Nolan of Clifton Park; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Gloria DiBlase of Liverpool; and several cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday July 23rd from 8:30 to 9:30am at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Rd, Latham, NY 12110. She will then be interred in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences can be posted at demarcostonefuneralhome.com.
