Rotterdam – Giovina 'Joanne' Tommasone, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017. She was born inSilvi Marina, Italy on November 18, 1937 toAlfredo and Palmina (Ronca) Corradi, the oldest of six. In 1955, she married Antonio Tommasone and together they brought three of her siblings to America to start a new life. Giovina was a homemaker and dedicated her life to her family.She and her husband opened up their home to their growing extended families and friends. As their family grew so did their business; one that their sons would eventually take over. She would often spend hourspreparing meals andcatering to her large family. As matriarch of the family, Giovina bridged the gap between the relatives in Italy and America; her and her husband's love knew no bounds. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Antonio Tommasone and one brother in Italy, Antonio Corradi. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Gerald Tommasone (Marie), Tony Tommasone (Patricia), John Tommasone (Kristine), Mary Ann Savona(Anthony)and Mary Gina Igoe, as well as 11 grandchildren, Ashley,Danielle, Nicholas, Nicole, Alexander'AJ', Victoria, Jonathan, Isabella, Dominic, Antonio and Massimo. She is survived by her treasured brother, Sergio Corradi, and sisters, Maria D'Annibale, Lucy Sacchetti, and Silvanna Frascarelli; as well as many nieces and nephews including her dearest nephew, Jerome Vaverchak. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27th from 5-8 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 8:45am and will be followed at 9:30am by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd. in Rotterdam. Entombment will be in St. Cyril’s Cemetery.
