Giovanni DiGregorio, formerly of Crane St. Schenectady,passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the age of 80 while residing in Sarasota Florida with his daughter Pasqualina and son-in-law Angelo Tebano. Giovanni came from Italy to the United States in 1972 along with his loving wife Francesca Volpe DiGregorio and their children.He lost his beloved wife and best friend, Francesca on November 13, 1988 to cancer. He worked in the Schenectady School system and later went on to work for General Electric in Schenectady. In his spare time he loved to garden and play cards with his best friend of 43 years Fiore Marotta, also of Schenectady. Giovanni was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. He found joy in always being surrounded by his six children and 18 grandchildren. Giovanni also loved to travel to his hometown of Alife, Italy to visit his siblings. Giovanni leaves behind his six children; Maria Stocchetti and her husband Elio, Nicola DiGregorio and his wife Heather, Cecilia Audi, Pasqualina Tebano and her husband Angelo, Patrizia DiGregorio, andGian Matteo DiGregorio and his wife Lisa as well as his siblings, Maria Giuseppina DiGregorio (Italy), Mariangela DiCaprio (Mariaville), Giuseppe DiGregorio (Connecticut), Carmelina Fabrizio (Italy), Immacolata Petraccione (Italy), his loving grandchildren; Antonio Audi, Pasqualina Audi, Francesca Audi, Luigi Stocchetti, Francesco Stocchetti, Vittorio Stocchetti, Alfredo N Tebano, Francesca Tebano, Francesco Farmer, Danniqua Farmer, John Douglas DiGregorio, Noelle DiGregorio, Nicolina DiGregorio, Alfredo B Tebano, Rossella Tebano, Francesca DiGregorio and Gianna DiGregorio and great grandson Kaiden Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents Nicola DiGregorio and Maria Camputaro, and siblings Concetta DiGregorio (Italy), Michelangelo DiGregorio (Italy), Maria Luigia DiGregorio (Italy), Pasqualino DiGregorio (Italy). Viewing hours will be held at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 8:00 am - 10:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial honoring Giovanni at St. Luke's Church at 11 am Burial to follow at Memory Garden's Memorial Park (983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany).
