Gino Lio

SCHENECTADY -On Monday, August 7, 2023, Gino Lio, loving husband, and father of two children, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 82.

Gino was born and educated in Pianopoli, Italy and was the son of the late Pietro and Francesca Lio. In 1952 he emigrated to Canada and later came to the United States in 1960. On May 22, 1966 he married Erterina Paniccia.

Gino worked at General Electric for 35 years as a crane operator. He was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church where he served as an usher from 1977 to 2018. He enjoyed spending winter months in Florida with his wife. Gino was an avid bowler and bowled four perfect games. He enjoyed golfing with his daughters, family and friends. The true love of his life was his devotion to his family and faith. He served as a living example of what we are called to do; live a life of kindness and show love and compassion to all those who cross our path.

He is survived by his bride Erterina Lio; daughters Lisa Lio and Michele Lio-Palmo; grandchildren Keegan and Sophia Palmo; his brother Dominick (Maureen) Lio; his sister-in-law Marie Panniccia, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his four grand dogs.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9:15 to 11:15 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam. His Mass will begin at 12 pm at St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
