Gertrude Mae (Holtz) Zelezniak peacefully passed away on February 6, 2025.
Gertrude, who was affectionately known as "Cookie Gramma", was born on March 1, 1930 in Palatine Bridge New York.
She was predeceased by her parents, her 4 sisters and her loving husband of 50 wonderful years, Steve.
She is survived by her 4 children, Peter (Maryanne) Zelezniak, Joseph (Lisa) Zelezniak, Karen Downs and Larry (Amy) Zelezniak, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, David Jonathan and Bernadette Danni-Mae Haley, who were her bestest buds and Julian Joseph Zelezniak. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Gertrude retired after 25 years in 1989 from Freihofers Bakery in Albany New York. She worked in various different positions within the bakery until she became and mastered the role of Specialty Cake Decorator.
Gertrude made many cakes, which were sought out by many well throughout her retirement. Those who have had some of Cookie Gramma's homemade cakes with a secret pudding filling topped and decorated with her homemade frosting will always remember them fondly. Her cake making finale was a very special 50th birthday cake for a near and dear friend she considered family.
She was a member of Cobblestone Reformed Church in Schenectady New York.
Calling hours will be private, however a springtime burial will be planned and announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cobblestone Reformed Church, any animal shelter or rescue center of your choosing in Gertrude Zelezniak's memory in lieu of flowers. With her house of worship and the well-being of animals always being near and dear to her heart.
