Gertrude A (Kowalski) Barbato

Schenectady – Gertrude Anne Barbato, 85, passed away Saturday July 30, 2022 at the Schenectady Center after a long illness. Born in Schenectady she was the daughter of the late Ignasius and Sophie (Zielinski) Kowalski. She is survived by her five children Caren (Kevin McCarthy) Thompson and her son Scott Thompson, Scott (Donna) Barbato, Theresa (Paul) Leonardi, Anthony (Sandra) Barbato and Patrick Barbato. She is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents Gertrude was predeceased by her daughter Diane Barbato, her grandson Garrett Thompson and her siblings Edward Kowalski, Henry Kowalski, Joseph Kowalski, Ronald Kowalski, Stephen Kowalski and Jessica Kowalski. The family extends their special thanks to the staff at Schenectady Center. Calling hours will be held Friday August 5th from 4-6 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.
