Rotterdam-Germaine A. Dagostino, 85, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 after a brief illness. Germaine was born on April 9, 1934 in Schenectady, New York and was the daughter of the late George and Germaine (Hatton) Carlson. She was a graduate of Draper High School and was happily married for 54 years to the love of her life, Raymond J. Dagostino Sr. Germaine was employed for 26 years at the Golub Corporation, until her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace and an active member of the Rosary Society and volunteered for many activities, including the Church Festa. Gerri was the beloved mother of Raymond J. (Peggy) Dagostino Jr., Rebekah (Daniel) Valachovic and Mark (Cindy) Dagostino, all from Rotterdam. Gerri was the loving grandmother of Marlo (Shannon) Valachovic, Casey (Jason) Harr, and Jill (Patrick) Valachovic, and was the great-grandmother of Tianna and Olivia Harris, Jaxson and Madison Harr, and Leonardo Tanella. Gerri is also survived by her younger sister JoAnn Carlson, and many nieces and nephews, as well as her constant companion Sammy. Gerri was predeceased by her loving husband Raymond, her parents; George and Germaine, and her four siblings. Gerri enjoyed knitting, baking, playing cards, and board games. She loved going on family vacations, especially to the ocean. Gerri also enjoyed talking with friends and spending afternoons with her sister JoAnn. Gerri deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grand children and enjoyed attending all of their activities. Gerri was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 8 from 5-8pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY 12306. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9 at 9:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, in Rotterdam. Burial will follow at St. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam. Arrangements are by R.J. DeLuccia Funeral Service. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Community Hospice for their care and compassion while treating Gerri.
