Gerard M Balascio

Schenectady -Gerard M. Balascio passed into eternal life on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. A lifetime Schenectady resident, Gerard was born on May 5, 1962, the son of Augustine and Dona (Fiore) Balascio. Gerard graduated from Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School in 1980 and then attended Hudson Valley Community College. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady. In addition to his parents, Gerard is survived by his brothers, Mark Balascio, and his wife, Rebecca Balascio, and John Balascio; nephews Anthony Balascio and Joseph Balascio, and niece Michela Balascio. He is also survived by his aunt, Mary Fiore, and uncle, Dan Balascio, numerous cousins, and his longtime companion, Susan VonMaucher-Pemberton. A calling hour, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Thursday, January 30 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A private funeral service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
