SCHENECTADY - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear mother, sister, grandmother, and friend Georgianna “Georgie” Luciani. Georgie passed away on 10/31/23 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beacon of love and strength in our lives, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. Georgianna was born on February 22, 1937, in Schenectady, NY, to the late Paul and Elvira (Mancini) Pallante. She grew up to be a woman of exceptional grace and kindness, and she dedicated her life to her family. Georgie offered unwavering support, boundless love, and guidance to those around her, and her legacy as a nurturing and giving woman will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come. Upon graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in 1955, Georgie attended Mildred Elley. After, she worked for De Matteo De Matteo, H.S. Barney, and J.M. Fields. In 1963, Georgianna joined the NY State Lottery Division. She appeared on WRGB for a time, drawing the winning NY State Lottery numbers. Later, her career with NY State continued in the Department of Tax and Finance. Georgianna was married to her beloved late husband, Gustino “Gus” Luciani. She is survived by daughters Anita (Michael) Vitallo and Lisa Luciani; son Justin (Toni) Luciani; her grandchildren Nicole (Chris) Holoday, Marissa (fiance Mark Nerney) Vitallo, Ciara Vitallo, Monica (fiance Nick Brennan) Luciani, and Trevor Luciani; her great-granddaughter Josephina Holoday; her sister Eleonora Kim; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Gloria (Fred) Devito and brother-in-law, Dr. Hyung Kim. Georgianna had a passion for holidays and traditions. She enjoyed cooking for others and sharing love through her homemade Italian meals. Everyone she knew had a favorite Georgie dish. Along with the food, Georgie brought her humor to any gathering. Every summer, she would travel to Saratoga Raceway, where she loved the giveaways. She was kind and giving, ensuring everyone in the family received something from the track. She loved going out to eat at her favorite local spots. She especially enjoyed a good martini with as many green olives as one could fit in the glass. Georgie cherished time in the sun with her feet in the sand and looked forward to her yearly family beach trips. When she traveled, she packed for extravagant picnics that her family will never forget. Georgie was “up with the birds” every morning, waiting for the paper so she could complete the daily Jumble... She had a talent for word puzzles, and she was happy to share the solutions with others. She was unique in showing compassion for strangers and helping anyone in need due to her faith in God. Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone in her life, and her belief in a higher power provided comfort and purpose. The family would like to thank Dr. John Pezzulo and Stacy McHale-McBain (NP), Upstate Hematology Oncology, the staff on A-5 at Ellis Hospital, and O2 Solutions for their compassion and care for our Mother, Mema. We also want to thank her hairdresser, John Fowler, who always made her feel and look her best.Georgianna would love it if you tried to complete the Jumble or have a Martini with extra green olives in her honor. Donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to continue her legacy of helping others in need.
