George F Perkins

George F. Perkins, 91, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehab after a long health battle. Born in Albany, George was the son of the late George J. and Verna (Fowler) Perkins. George was a graduate of Milne High School and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for 32 years as a computer operator for General Electric, later working at Sears in the stock department. A life member of the Rotterdam Elks, George was also a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, VFW Hildenbrand Post 1895 and the Schonowee Volunteer Fire Department where he served as post president for 6 years and fireman for 19 years. Besides his parents, George is predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Plominski) Perkins and his sister Verna Nichols. He leaves behind his daughter, Marcia Miley (John) of Rotterdam as well as his grandchildren, Ashley Miley and Katarina Miley and one great granddaughter, Gianna. He is also survived by 3 step-sons. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 8pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, with a visitation held prior from 6-8pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment with military honors will be at Saratoga National Cemetery on Monday, May 16 at 10am.
