Gary H Graber

Gary H. Graber, 63, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2016 with his family at his bedside. Born in Troy, NY, Gary is the son of John P. Graber and the late Lois Robinson Graber. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Gary worked at the United States Postal Service, General Mail Facility on Karner Rd. for 30 years and retired in 2009. Following his retirement he worked part time for Enterprise Car Rental. He was an avid runner and loved boating and spending time at his camp on Pine Lake. In addition to his father, Gary is also survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Joanne Krakat Graber, three children; Rachel E. Graber (Brian Coons), Rebecca A. Graber and Nathan R. Graber, and his fiancé Caitlin Cleary all of Rotterdam. His brothers and sisters; Jack (Karen) Graber of Niskayuna, Claudia (Jack) Mahoney of Troy, Beverly (Jeff) Guthrie of Troy, Mark (Kathy) Graber of Troy, Denise (Scott) Lewis of Latham and Stephen (Joely) Graber of Troy,two grandchildren, Ethan Graber and "one on the way", as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed at 10 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Madeleine-Sophie Church. Burial will be at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Gary's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN, 38101-9908. Gary's family would like to express their thanks to Dr Christine Murphy, Dr Sunitha Sukumaran and Dr Mark Sanchez, as well as the nursing staff at Ellis Hospital and NYOH for their compassion and care throughout Gary's illness.
