S CHENECTADY - Gail (Bacheller) Yuille, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Tuesday December 26, 2023 at the Schenectady County Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville, NY.
Gail was born on St. Patrick’s Day, 1945 in Mineola, NY, the daughter of the late Dudley Perry Bacheller Jr. and Helen “Bunny” (Duer) Bacheller. Gail graduated from Mineola High School, Class of 1963. She received her BA degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oswego, and then furthered her education at SUNY Albany graduating with a Master’s Degree in Reading. She taught elementary education for 30 years at both the Draper Union Free School District, and later with the Mohonasen Central School District, retiring in June of 1999. She was a member of DTA, MTA, and NYSUT during her teaching career. Gail was an avid reader, quilter, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She passionately loved animals, and showed this through adopting many four-legged friends over the years as well as donating her time and money to various animal rescue organizations.
Gail met her husband Tom in 1965 during their junior year at Oswego and went on to marry immediately after graduation. They raised their family in Rotterdam and worked together for many years as teachers at both Draper and Mohonasen. As true soul mates, many will fondly remember Gail and Tom driving to and from school together and then spending their retirement hand in hand.
Survived by her beloved husband Thomas of 56 years; daughters Melissa (Matthew) Weise and the late Tiffany Yuille; and grandchildren Hailey Cline and Matthew Weise. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and special friends.
The Yuille family would like extend our sincerest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Mohawk Trail for their kind and compassionate care that Gail was given. We especially want to thank Debbie and Usha for all the love and kindness they showed during her almost 3 year stay.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204. Online condolences may be offered at demarcostonefuneralhome.com.
