Frederick C. Nichols

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Frederick “Buzz” Nichols age 83 on Thursday May 15, 2025 following a long illness.
Buzz was a graduate of Draper High School and Siena College. Following graduation, Buzz started and long and distinguished career with the Department of Social Security.
During his early career, he met the love of his life Susan (Santa Barbara) Nichols. They were married for 56 years.
Buzz was a talented athlete, including football, baseball, fast pitch softball and golf.
Buzz was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Marion (Hane) Nichols, 2 brothers John Nichols and Gary Nichols.
He is survived by his loving wife Susan, 2 sons Adam Nichols (Allison) and Kevin Nichols (Grace), his grandchildren Tyler Nichols (Emma), Noah Nichols, and Marygrace Nichols, one great-grandson Tucker Nichols, his sister Carolyn-Madeline Duffy (Mike), his best friend George Gutchell and several nieces and nephews.
The Family would like thank the Eddy Senior care nurses, the team at Honest, Mary Gilroy and the wonderful staff at St. Peter’s and the Hospice floor for all the wonderful, kind care Buzz received.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at the Demarco Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam from 10am-12pm. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home at 12pm. Burial to follow at Memory Gardens.
