Rotterdam – Frederick J. Krahula, 73, passed away on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 with his siblings by his side. Fred was born in Schenectady to his parents, the late Charles and Mary (Dvorscak) Krahula. He graduated from Bishop Gibbons High School and went on to have a long career with Intermagnetics General working as a project manager. Fred had a passion for many things, including his beloved Nascar, bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing and traveling with his family. Fred owned the pro shop at Scotia Lanes for many years as well as being part owner of Burnt Hills Lanes in the 1990s. He also enjoyed harness racing and was part owner of several racehorses. He was a longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish. Fred leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Charles Krahula, Joseph Krahula (Anne), Kathleen Krahula, Michael Krahula (Mike Skinkle) and Melodie Krahula, niece and nephew, Kelly Hopmeier (Sage) and Matthew Krahula (Roberta) and great nephews, Aiden and Arek. In addition, he leaves behind his best friends, Fran Lawyer, Janet Skinkle and Charlie. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday evening from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at the funeral home at 8:45am and will be followed by a mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 9:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 210 Princetown Road, Rotterdam, NY 12306. Interment will be at St. Cyril and Method Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Fred’s name may be made to the Daily Bread Food Pantry at St. Luke’s, 1241 State St., Schenectady, NY 12304 or to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish at the address listed above.
