In Loving Memory of Frederick N. Dykeman, 64

Frederick N. Dykeman of Rotterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Born on December 25, 1961, he was raised in the close knit community of Duanesburg, New York. Known affectionately as “Little Fred” or “Freddy” by family and friends, he was the son of the late Frederick Dykeman and Kaye Meyers.

A proud product of his hometown, Fred attended local schools and graduated from Covenant Christian School. He briefly attended LeTourneau University in Texas before returning to Duanesburg to help manage the family farm and learn the commercial drywall trade. His expertise and dedication helped elevate his family’s business to a respected name in large commercial buildings across New York State.

Fred’s heart lay firmly in Duanesburg. For many years, he organized the town’s Fourth of July fireworks display which brought many wonderful memories to the community. He cherished spending time at the family’s camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake, never missing a “Ring of Fire,” for more than thirty years.

In 1990, Fred founded Jus Lin Farms—a venture that evolved from a roadside farm stand into a BBQ and ice cream restaurant (2003), a 110 acre livestock and produce CSA, and, most recently, a trucking operation running from upstate New York to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His lifelong passion for agriculture was matched only by his love of horticulture—he enjoyed cultivating vegetables and flowers as well as succulents, and bonsai with equal enthusiasm. He was a skilled woodworker and had a fond love for cooking, always trying something new.

Frederick is survived by his beloved children, Lindsey (Walter) Hladchuk and Justin (Samantha) Dykeman; his sisters, Merry (Chuck) Beekman, Kathleen Van Valen, and Kimberly (David) Oakes; and his nieces and nephews, Sophia (Chris) and Ethan (Ashley) Van Valen; Charles (Molly) and Thomas (Lindsey) Beekman; Zoe Squadrito; Rachel; David (Lisa); and Eve Oakes, as well as many extended family members.

Frederick’s kindness, work ethic, and wit will forever be a guiding light for all who knew him.
