Frank J Vitale

Frank J. Vitale, 78, of Guilderland passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Born in Long Beach, NY, Frank was the son of the late Frank and Clara Handschuh Vitale. He graduated from Long Beach High School and received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic University. He went on to Long Island University and earned his Masters in Nuclear Engineering in 1970 and received his professional engineering license in 1971. Frank also served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1962 as a First Lieutenant. Frank began his career as an Electrical Engineer in 1959 at Long Island Lighting Company, and moved to Guilderland in 1979 to continue working at the New York Power Pool. He retired in 1999, after forty years of service. He later opened F.J. Vitale, P.E. Engineer Consulting, which he operated from 1999 to 2015. Frank was a lifetime member of the IEEE. Frank enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, playing bridge, woodworking, and traveling with his wife Jackie throughout the United States, South America, and Europe. Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Garner Vitale, whom he married on January 3, 1987, four children; Michael (Wendy) Vitale of Marietta, GA., Suzanne (Donald) Nadeau of Chatham, MA., Suzanne (Christopher) Fiori of Guilderland and Vicki Bocsi, also of Guilderland, his sister; Barbara Vitale of Long Beach, NY, and nine grandchildren; Colby, Austin, Allison, Haley, Madeline, Danielle, Jessica, Alex and Jeremy. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. (Rt 20) in Guilderland. Funeral services will be private.
