Frank M Guerra

d. September 20, 2014

Schenectady - Frank M. Guerra, 91, of Schenectady, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at home. His loving wife, Sadie, was by his side. Frank was born in Schenectady to Florence and Michael Guerra. He was pre-deceased by his eight wonderful brothers and sisters. He served honorably in the US Army; he was stationed in India during World War II. After the army, he attended welding school and worked as a welder for the General Electric Company until he retired. Frank was a man of strong faith. He was active in Mount Carmel Church for many years and later became a member of St. Luke's Church. His words, "Thank the good Lord," were a mainstay of his life. He was full of life. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, playing cards with family and friends. He was quite a cook - lasagna and apple pies were his specialties. His view of life and unbounded energy allowed him to enjoy life and to take care of others he loved. He was devoted to the love of his life, his wife Sadie. They were happily married for 67 years. Their unwavering devotion to each other was the fruit of their deep love. His daughter, Kathy, and son-in-law Bill received support, encouragement and constant love from him. The bright spots of his life were his grandchildren, Rachael and Eric. They shared a lifetime of beautiful times together - fishing, gardening, eating, laughing - always. At the end of his life, Frank was blessed to have two self-sacrificing, compassionate home nurses, Debbie and Sonja. Thank you is too small a word. Frank is survived by his wife, Sadie, of Schenectady, his daughter, Kathy (Bill)Jensen of Scotia, his grandchildren, Rachael and Eric of Scotia as well as nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10 to 12 noon am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 at St. Lukes Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady.Entombment will follow the Mass at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
