Frank Gentile

Schenectady- Frank Gentile. Frank passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2013, at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 28, 1927, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Philomena Gentile. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a retired NYS employee. Frank was a gambler. He didn't care if he was in Vegas, at Saratoga Race Track, or at a local OTB. If he was betting, he was doing what he loved. Frank was young at heart and he loved a good joke. People were drawn to his kindness and humor and he was known as "Uncle Frankie" to everyone. Frank is survived by his son, Richard Gentile (Cathy); four grandchildren, Tara Ferri, Crystal Knapp (John); Beth Corvene, Paul Gentile; a great-granddaughter, Katarina Knapp; one sister, Dolores; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Rose Gentile; four sisters: Bernie Nigro, Lena Samborin, Antoinette Bernardi, Marge Nigro; and four brothers: Alphonso Gentile, Robert Gentile, James Gentile, and Dominick Gentile. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements will be private. The Gentile family would like to express their gratitude to Baptist Health for their exceptional care of Frank during his stay.
