Frank Thomas Dickerman, age 100, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York, on Aug. 6, 2025.
Frank was born in Schenectady, New York, on June 27, 1925. A proud veteran, he served honorably in the United States Navy as an aviation machinist mate during World War II. After his service, Frank returned to Schenectady and worked for many years at General Electric as a machinist repairman. He was a member of the East Glenville Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus of Troy, New York, and the Sons and Daughters of Ireland of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Frank was also a lifelong fan of the New York Mets.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Mary Katherine Dickerman (née McQuade), his parents, Frank Valentine Dickerman and Mary Ellen “Mae” Dickerman (née Keehan), and his sister, Mary Rita Clinton.
Frank is survived by his children, Leo Dickerman, Susan Derkowski (Clay) and Ann Hutchins (Richard); grandchildren, Kevin (Lauren), Katlyn, Kyle (Laura), Amy, Brooke (Steve), Zachary and Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Braelyn, Lainey, Callen, Adalyn, Annie and Mary.
Frank was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose steady presence, gentle spirit and deep love for family shaped generations. His lighthearted wit and sense of humor never left him, even in his final days. It was a gift to those around him.
The family thanks Millview of Latham Assisted Living Residence and The Community Hospice for their dedication and care.
Calling hours will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday Aug. 14, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment next to his wife, Mary, at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
