Frank A. DeMasi, 92, of Rotterdam passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness, with his children by his side. Frank was born in Albany, the son of the late Pasquale and Carmella Falzerano DeMasi. He was a graduate of Albany High School, Class of 1939.He went to Coyne Electrical School in Chicago where he became an electrician. Frank entered the U.S. Army in 1944, where he was an Electrical Instrument Repairman and attained the rank of sergeant. Frank was honorably discharged in 1946.He worked many years at Alco in Schenectady, followed by sales positions in insurance and chemical products. He enjoyed his later years working on tug boats at Matton. During retirement, Frank was a volunteer with Baltimore hospitals involving research on the effects of human growth hormones.He was a blood donor up into his eighties.He preached physical fitness and up until his illness, he could be seen at the gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Frank married Mildred E. Moore on December 19, 1947.Together they raised four children.Years after Mildred passed away, Frank married his girlfriend from his Army days, Anne Coleman, on November 16, 1985 and they lived in Baltimore, before returning to Schenectady in the early 1990s. In addition to his parents, Frank was also predeceased by his first wife, Mildred E. Moore DeMasi, in 1980, his son Stephen A. DeMasi and his brother, John DeMasi. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anne Coleman DeMasi, his children, Frank C. (Karen) DeMasi of Scotia, Michael J. DeMasi of Rotterdam and Jacqueline (Michael) Allard of St. Joseph, Michigan, his step daughter, Joyce (Ken) Shimanek-German of Baltimore, MD., grandchildren, Paul (Pearl) Allard, Brian (Darci) Allard, all of Michigan and Ian Blum of Maryland, two great grandchildren, Xavier Allard and Zoelle Allard, of Michigan, and his sister, Anna Franze of Colonie. Funeral services for Frank will be private. Memorial donations may be made in Frank's memory to a charity of one's choice. He was particularly fond of charities for children.
