Frank Delgallo

Rotterdam - Francis DelGallo, “Frank” or “Franny”, as he was well known by those who loved him, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2021. He shared his final moments with his beloved family, dear friend andPastor, Tony, many devoted friends and his work family. Frank was born in Schenectady on October 14, 1939, a proud son of Italian immigrants from the Abruzzo region of Italy, Ettore and Concetta DelGallo. Frank and his wife, Marilyn owned many local businesses including: DelGallo Country Pools, Take It To The Bank where he worked with his dedicatedson, Michael by his side. The Wagon Train Barbecue which he co-owned with Richard Frederick. It was there where he showed his artistic talent and love for the wild west. DelGallo Construction where he worked with member and close friend of thirty five years, Jim Bradshaw. His last business dream is currently under construction and will be finished by his spirit and guidance from above along with his son Michael and loving work family. He loved working and worked till the day he left to his eternal home. Besides being a well loved and successful business owner, Frank had many other achievements. He was the Town Supervisor for the Town of Rotterdam and City of Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy bestowed on him the honor of Frank DelGallo Day, which occurs on December seventeenth in the City of Schenectady. The certificate honoring Frank DelGallo Day was presented to him by Anthony and Rose Ferrari at Ferrari’s Ristorante in Schenectady; it was his favorite place to go share a meal with his family and friends. He was known for his acts of kindness and if someone was in need, he helped without question. During the 2011 flood in Rotterdam Junction, he helped care for the citizens of Rotterdam in any way he could. He bought truckloads of food and water and volunteered at the fire department.He was very grateful to our service members and honored them by building the Veterans Memorial at Rotterdam Town hall.One of his greatest achievements came when he built a gravel path and with his own tractor, pulled the Dutch ship replica Onrust into the Mohawk River. This was to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s exploration. When he was not working or attending to civic duties, he loved to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors with his best friend and grandson, Francesco.He followed his dreams and left with his heart full of love knowing that all of his dreams came true. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Tony DelGallo, Carm Giannetti and her husband Louis, Mary Laven and her husband Ed. Survivors include his beloved and devoted wife, Marilyn(Roxanne) DelGallo; loving children, Christine DelGallo and Michael DelGallo and his wife Erica; adoring grandchildren, Francesco DelGallo and Marlo DelGallo; sister, Elisa Bursor and her husband Bob; brother, Robert DelGallo; sister-in-law, Vicky DelGallo; he is also survived by a large loving family of nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends who were family to him. Frank’s family would like to personally thank Dr. Vachon, who went above and beyond to care for Frank along with all the Doctors and Nurses at St. Peter’s Hospital, for all the love and care shown to him when his family could not be there. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Frank’s family, at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam on Friday, March 12 from 4 until 7 PM. Family and friends are also invited to attend a celebration of life service which will also be live streamed on Sunday, March 14 at 5:30 PM from the Duanesburg Florida Baptist Church, 7967 NY 30, Delanson, New York.
