Frank G Califano

Rotterdam – Frank G. Califano, age 74, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving familyon Monday, January 23rd, 2023. Frank was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Germano and Carmella (Donadio) Califano. He graduated from Schalmont High School and studied at Hudson Valley Community College. Frank went on to work first as a draftsman and later advanced to CAD at the NYS Department of Transportation. Frank loved sports, especially the New York Giants and Yankees. He was an amazing bowler, belonging to many leagues throughout the area and bowling 12 perfect games of 300. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and family. Frank was a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge, IDACA and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Trips to his cousin’s camp on Sacandaga Lake, Lake George, casinos and the Saratoga Race Track were a few of the places Frank loved to go. As long as he was spending time with his son, family or friends, he was happy. Frank is survived by his devoted son, David F. Califano; his former wife, Teresa Califano as well as many cherished cousins and extended family members. Calling hours will take place on Friday from 10am to 12pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam with a service to follow at 12pm. Frank will be laid to rest at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Frank’s family would like to extend their thanks to his cardiologist Dr. George Vassolas, the staff at New York Oncology Hematology River Road and Ellis Hospital and Hospice of Schenectady. A special thank you to Frank’s home health aide, Lisa Loehr for her compassionate and loving care. And of course, the support of Frank’s family and close friends.
