"Fofo" Mikropoulos

Efrosini "Fofo" Mikropoulos, 86, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Russia, Fofo moved to Athens in 1939. She came the United States in 1964. Fofo was a homemaker, and also helped her son at the Brandywine Diner and later at the Bellevue Café. Fofo was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She loved her family, knitting and also enjoyed traveling. In addition to her parents Spiro and Elizabeth Stavarianidou, Fofo was also predeceased by her husband Theodore in 1964, her daughter Elizabeth, son Anastasio and sister Agapi. She is survived by her son Spiro Mikropoulos of Rotterdam, her daughter Sophia Stefou of Athens, one brother; Stavro and two sisters; Elli and Anthoula, all of Athens, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. A Trisagion service will begin at 4:30 pm. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, 11 am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton St. Schenectady, NY, 12305. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery.
