Rotterdam – Florence M. Trigger, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. A lifelong area resident, Florence was born in Schenectady to her parents, the late Wladyslawa “Ida” (Grubalska) Godlewski and Bronisalaw Godlewski. Florence graduated from Mont Pleasant High School where she completed a special course in co-operative retailing. She went on to work at Kresge’s for several years and later worked at the General Electric Company in the typing bureau. The most important job of her life though, was raising her 2 sons, James and Paul and taking care of her cherished grandchildren. Florence married her beloved husband, Richard N. Trigger, on September 23rd, 1951. He predeceased her in 2010. Florence thoroughly enjoyed going out to eat, listening to her Sunday morning polka music, playing bingo, taking walks and going on her weekly tour of errands around town. Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, James R. Trigger and his wife, Rosemarie, Rotterdam Junction, NY, and Paul J. Trigger and his wife, Constance, Niskayuna, NY, her grandchildren, Adam Trigger, South Glens Falls, NY, Alyssa Trigger, Boston, MA, Laura Domina (Cory), Belmont, MA, and Matthew Trigger, Allston, MA. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law, Theresa Godlewski and her “Sewing Circle” friends of 7 decades, which still includes Theresa, as well as Rita Chodkowski, Bernadette Kietlinski, Anna Mae Lewinski and Clara Walendziak. Besides her parents and husband Richard, Florence was predeceased by her siblings, Bronisalaw “Ben” Godlewski, Winifred Morgan and Edward Godlewski. An hour of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10th from 8:15-9:15am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am at St. Gabriel’s Church, Hamburg St., Rotterdam. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Schenectady. Flo’s family would like to thank the staff of the Woodlawn Unit at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center for the attentive care they provided to her during her stay. Memorial contributions may be addressed to Kingsway Arms Nursing Center Resident Council Fund and signify that it is a donation being made in memory of Florence Trigger.
