Florence A (Jones) Stanco

Florence A. Stanco, 95,passed away peacefully on December 9, 2014.She was born in Berne, NY, the daughter of the late Charles Jones, Sr. and Edna Stevens-Jones. Her childhood homes were on dairy farms.Florence attended Berne-Knox School in the first class when it opened.At the age of 25 she went to work in the office for the Army Depot in Schenectady. Florence married Angelo M. Stanco in February, 1947.Their marriage lasted for 64 years, ending only with Mr. Stanco's death in 2011.Florence and Angelo spent many years together.They enjoyed sharing their experiences as well as spending time with family and friends. She was a homemaker for many years in Schenectady. In later years, she returned to the work force and was employed with the Internal Revenue Service in Albany. She enjoyed cooking and baking with her granddaughter, Lisa Stanco.They baked together for almost two decades which will always be a fond memory now. Florence is survived by her son, Joseph Stanco and daughter in law Diane Stanco , four grand-children, Paul Stanco, Lisa Stanco, Laura Decker-Stanco, and Mark Stanco, and several great grand-children.She is also survived by a sister, Shirley Janssen and a brother Ralph Jones. A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning from 7:15- 8:15 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. (Rt. 20) in Guilderland, followed at 9 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church on Union St. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery. The family wants to thank the staff of the Kingsway Community where Florence resided for a brief period of her life as well as The Community Hospice.In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to The Community Hospice.
