Flora Mannato

April 4, 1929 — October 14, 2024

Flora Della Selva Mannato, 95, of Schenectady, peacefully entered into eternal life after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, on October 14, 2024. She was born in Schenectady, New York to Frank and Mary Della Selva and was married for 54 years to the love of her life, Albert Mannato.

Flo worked part-time for many years as a catering waitress, starting at Dan Kelly Catering, the Edison Club, and Union College.  A devoted wife and mother, she had a heart of gold and was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives.  Until she couldn’t any longer, she spoke every day with her sisters.  Flo loved to entertain, and her home was always open to family and friends.  She enjoyed trips with her husband and sisters & brothers-in-law to some of the local casinos, as well as trips to Las Vegas and Florida.  She also loved to “gallivant” with her dear friend Angie.  Flo was a devout Catholic and a faithful, long-time parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Frank Della Selva; her husband, Albert Mannato, daughter Diane Mannato Parks, sisters and brothers-in-law Antoinette (Armand) Aldi; Mary (Anthony) Derenzo; Rose (Anthony) Cassillo and Eugene Quattrociocchi.

Flo is survived by her children Kathy (John) Leone, Joanne (David) Breakell, Steven (Gina) Mannato, and Vincent (Sarah) Mannato.  She was Mema to her cherished grandchildren, Marissa, Nikki, Matthew, Eric, David, Brandon, Tara, Jay, Megan (Devon), Kendrah (Ryan), Alexa and Maria; and, great-grandson Hudson.  She is also survived by her sister, Helen Quattrociocchi, as well as many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center, to all of House 7 Eddy Village Green Cohoes staff (with a special thank you to Melissa and Shelly) for their outstanding and compassionate care of Flo for the past few years, as well as Beth and staff at The Community Hospice.  Your kindness and compassion was extremely comforting during this difficult time.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling period on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 8:30-10:15 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
