Rotterdam - Filomena "Filly" Viscusi, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 12th, 2021. She was born in Squille, Italy (a hamlet of Caserta) on March 5th, 1931 to her parents, the late Gennaro Sgueglia and Giachelina Gallo Sgueglia. Filomena married her husband, Carlo Viscusi on February 28th, 1957 and immigrated to the United States in 1958. She was a full-time homemaker who loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Everyone was welcome at her home at any time, where there was always a pot of coffee ready and an open seat at the table or on the porch for a chat. Filomena always enjoyed going to parties, having her hair done, going shopping (especially for shoes), watching the Italian channel, and tending to her beautiful flower garden. Not a day went by where she couldn't be found on the phone, talking with her family and friends locally or back home in Italy, spreading the news and keeping everyone in the loop. Above all else, Filomena adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Filomena was predeceased by her husband Carlo Viscusi, brothers Pietro & Romanino Sgueglia, as well as many other beloved family members and friends. Filomena leaves behind her devoted Children- Maria Delmonaco, Zelindo "Ziggy" Viscusi (Glorianna), Carla France, and Lora Cannistraci (James); Grandchildren- Joseph Delmonaco (Emily), Steven Delmonaco (Emily), Annalisa Zappia (Joshua), Cassandra DiCosta (Anthony), Carlo Viscusi, Rachael Preston (Brandon), Olivia Cannistraci, Alberto Cannistraci, and Nico Cannistraci; Great Grandchildren- Lillian Delmonaco, Dominic Zappia, Alana Zappia, and Leo DiCosta. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws. Calling hours are Friday, September 17th, from 4pm-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home (1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, NY 12306). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18th, at 9:15am at DeMarco-Stone, followed by a funeral mass at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (210 Princetown Rd, Rotterdam, NY 12306). Entombment will be at Saints Cyril & Method Cemetery (611 Duanesburg Rd, Rotterdam, NY 12306) following mass. Filomena and her family would like to thank the staff in the Neuro ICU at Albany Med and especially her home health nurse "Comara Nancy" (Rose Febiri), for all their devotion to Filomena's care and support to the family over the past years.
