Filomena (Cafarelli) Fusco

Rotterdam - Filomena (Cafarelli) Fusco, 89, of Rotterdam passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. She was born on February 22, 1933 in Limatola, Benevento, Italy to Agostino and Carmela Malgeri Cafarelli. She was one of 9 Children. Filomena worked at Newberry Knitting Co. for over 30 years. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and was deeply devoted to her family. After her daughter Lina passed away, she took over as not only as Lina’s children’s grandmother but as a mother figure, always giving advice to Ricardo and Juliana. She was their best friend. She loved to be in her small garden, planting flowers, and cooking for her grandchildren. We all will miss her very much and cherish the memories we have forever in our hearts. She had great strength and faith and passed it on to all of us. Filomena is survived by her daughter Mary Fusco Pennachia (Attilio) and her son-in-law Mark DeLorenzo; her grandchildren Tina, Ricardo, Lisa Juliana; brothers Ralph (Barbara) Caferelli, Aldo (Carol) Cafarelli of Florida, John and Linda Cafarelli of Clifton Park and Agostino Cafarelli, Jr. of Florida; sisters Theresa Lostritto of Limatola, Italy, Palmeria Chester of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Anna Zimolka of Scotia as well as many nephews and nieces. Filomena was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years Joseph Fusco, her daughter Carmela "Lina" DeLorenzo, brother Dominick Cafarelli, brother in laws Gerald Zimolka, Peter Chester and Antimo Lostritto. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Thursday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. Entombment will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery.
