Rotterdam – Ferdinando “Freddie” Mastroianni, 66, passed away on Sunday, December 18th, 2016 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Alvignano, Italy on March 2nd, 1950, Freddie is the son of Caterina (DiSorbo) Mastroianni and the late Giuseppe Mastroianni. After coming to the US from Italy and marrying his beloved wife, Angela, Freddie worked in construction for Quadrini Construction. In his later years working as a team member for PJ Foods. Freddie had many interests including motorcycles, making wine to share with friends and family and his passion for masonry, specifically his love of creating arches. He was a devoted father and family man with a heart of gold and will be missed by all who knew him. A longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Freddie was also a member of the Sons of Italy and the Rotterdam Soccer Club. Besides his father, Freddie is predeceased by his brother, Michele Mastroianni. Left behind to cherish his memory is his adoring wife, Angela R. (Coppola) Mastroianni, his loving children, Joe Mastroianni (Heather), Roberto Mastroianni (Greg), Paul Mastroianni (Teresa) and Maddalena Mastroianni (Victor), his sisters, Orsola Mastroianni, Rosetta Mastroianni and Assunta Mastroianni, sister-in-law, Elena Cusano. He also leaves behind 6 adored grandchildren, Freddie, Salvatore, Silvana, Stephen, Cameron and Amelia as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 22nd from 5-8pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning at 8:15am from the funeral home followed at 9am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in St. Cyril’s Cemetery.
