Esther M (Lukas) Edwards

Esther M. Edwards, 90, of Schenectady, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013. Born in Ohio, Esther spent most of her early life in Larksville, PA.She worked for ten years as a Billing Supervisor with New York Telephone in New York City.An avid quilter, Esther loved making quilts for family and friends. Esther was predeceased by her parents; John and Mary Vavrek Lukas, her son Tom Edwards and her sister, Mary Jane Wright. She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, John R. Edwards, two children, John (Eileen) Edwards of Guilderland and Joseph (Melinda) Edwards of San Marino CA., her daughter in law, Sharon Edwards of Cobleskill, two sisters, Alice Fay of Beaufort, NC., and Gladys Ligouri of Forty Fort, PA. her brother, John Lukas of Akron, Ohio, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. (Rt. 20) in Guilderland. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, 9:15 from the funeral home, followed at 10 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Madeleine-Sophie Church. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
