Esther M Carnevale

May 3, 1922 — August 5, 2021

Schenectady- Esther M. Carnevale passed away peacefully on August 5, 2021. She was born as Estrina Margaret Iacobucci on May 3, 1922 in Schenectady, New York to Italian immigrants Dominick and Carmella (Califano). For 99 years, Esther was known affectionately as "Bibs" because her elder siblings always considered her the baby of the family. Those siblings Joseph (Lucy DiCocco), Rose (Gerald) Favata, Mary (William) Daviero, and Angeline (Beaz) Aldi have predeceased her. Bibs graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and enjoyed a lengthy working career. She worked at the Glove Factory making baseball mitts, at General Electric making dynamic coils, and for 25 years at Carl Company making shoppers smile. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and the Women’s Seniors in her community. Esther met Raymond Carnevale at the Rotterdam Rollerama, and they were married in 1946 after Raymond's service in World War II. They had one daughter, Corinne, who maintained a constant, lifelong companionship with Esther. Esther treasured her devoted grandson, Keith, and his two sons Jason Raymond and Charles Alexander. They will miss her dearly, and will ensure her recipes and her generous spirit are passed down for generations to come. Bibs spent countless hours cooking and baking for her family. Her specialties included honey spiral cookies and stuffed artichokes. She also loved baking cookies and serving her community at Mt. Carmel's annual Feast, which she did without fail for decades. A special thank you to her niece and godchild, Cheryl Ledet, whose support, kindness, and love will never be forgotten. She adored her 14 nieces and nephews, three nieces; Sandra Iacobucci, Natalie Bittner, and Patricia Richute are deceased. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 10am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. Schenectady, NY. Burial will follow at St. Cyril Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. Schenectady, NY 12303, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. To honor Bibs on her 100th Birthday, family and friends will be invited to a remembrance lunch in 2022. She would have loved that, but "only if we don't trouble ourselves."
