Schenectady, NY-Ernie Lotano, 74 of Schenectady died suddenly on Wednesday, September 30th following a long illness. Ernie was a loving father, dedicated educator and outstanding athlete. He taught Social Studies for over 40 years at Van Corlaer, Mont Pleasant High School, Schenectady High School and Catholic Central High School. He played catcher for the Schenectady Little League team that won the 1954 World Series and was a star basketball player for Mont Pleasant High School. His father Ernest and his mother Sally predeceased him. He is survived by Carol Lotano, his three sons: Daniel (Katie), Michael (Molly) and Christopher, and two grandchildren: Avery and Ashley, brothers: Joseph (Marion) and Paul and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam.Funeral services will be at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions in Ernie's name may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Albany Branch Office, 421 New Karner Rd., Ste.6, Albany, NY12205.
