Ernest W ("Ernie") Fountain

Ernest W. “Ernie” Fountain, 75, of Schenectady, died November 17, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Ernie was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and was employed as a head custodian for the Niskayuna School District for 34 years. He was a life member and past chief of the Stanford Heights Vol. Fire Dept. where he served for 45 years. Ernie loved attending antique car shows and was the proud owner of a 1960 Ford T-Bird. He did everything for everybody, and didn’t want any money or payback of any kind. He was always finding ways to help family and friends. He had a true servant’s heart. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, O’Neill and Elaine Malo Fountain; and a sister, Patricia E. Wiley. He is survived by his step children, Ronald Wilming (Renee) of Tennessee, Howard Jones (Marilyn) of Mechanicville and Gordon Jones (Eileen) of Galway, his brothers, O’Neill P. Fountain Jr (Kathie) of Ocala, Fla., Joseph E. Fountain of Schenectady and his sister, Charlene M. Peek of Schenectady, four grandchildren, Logan, Lorelie, Kailey and Aubrey, as well as many nephews, his niece and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Colonie.
