Rotterdam- Elizabeth (Betty) DiBartolomeo Scavello, 90, passed away at home on Wednesday March 22, 2017, surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. Betty was born on December 19, 1926 a daughter of the late Peter and Louise DiMonti DiBartolomeo. She attended Mont Pleasant High School. Betty married her beloved husband Carl Scavello on October 17, 1948. He predeceased her on August 21, 2006. Betty was employed for a time at General Electric and spent 30 wonderful years at Mother Ferro’s Restaurant; worked for Union Banquet Houses which gave her the opportunities to meet many important people as in Hillary Clinton, Barbara Streisand and Governor Mario Cuomo. She retired from the Ramada Inn after many wonderful years. Betty was a beloved waitress for over 60 years by her customers and co workers. The joy of her life was her family. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family holidays. A special pleasure was playing her organ for family and friends while her beloved husband Carl sang. Everyone got a thrill watching them jitterbug. Betty greatly enjoyed her trips to Italy and Branson Mo. Betty was a member of the Prayer and Praise Group at the former Our Lady of Assumption Rottterdam and was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Rotterdam. She is survived by her loving daughters Linda (John) Lontrato of Rotterdam, Maria (Robert) Daviero of Saratoga, her loving son Carl J. (Patricia) Scavello of Clifton Park and her sister Mary (Angelo) Palluti of Rotterdam brother in law and sister in law Anthony and Donna Scavullo of Scotia and Mary Scavullo of Rotterdam.Betty also was the devoted and adoring grandmother to Anthony Lontrato, Nina (Jeffrey) Pond, Robert (Liz) Daviero Jr. Jordan (Melissa) Daviero, Heather Scavello, Joshua Scavello, Audra Pastore, Stephanie (Jason) Savaria, Patrick Pastore, Kevin Hewitt and Danielle Hewitt. Betty was the proud great grandmother of Macy Lontrato, Madison Lontrato, McKenzie Burns, Ella Daviero, Lyla Daviero , Jonathon Pond and Jeremiah, Sarah, Katie, Keeley, Brandon, Ashlynn, Nicholas, Ariana,Gianna and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her brothers William (Phyllis) DiBartolomeo, John (Sophie) DiBartolomeo, Joseph (Angie) Di Bartolomeo, sisters Angelina (Peter) DeCerbo, Carmela Valente and Dorothy (Richard) Burns Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home on Monday March 27, 2017 from 7:30 am to 9:30 am. Immediately following a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace 210 Princetown Road Rotterdam. Interment will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery Duanesburg Road Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association 2 Pine West Plaza Albany NY 12205. The Family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Arthur Stevens, Carol Braungart; Physcian Assistant , and staff, Visiting Nurses Care Choices Staff Eileen, Sonya, Timothy, Carol, Pa, Louise and Melissa. Staff from Attentive Care,and Schenectady County Dept. of Senior and Long Term Care Services,staff member Sharon. Father Vincent Ciotoli, for his caring and spiritual friendship he shared with Betty, her current live in care giver and special friend Glory and former caregiver and good friend Barbara and more thanks to Valerie, Marie, Deb, Christina, Lakiesha,Anne and Elizabeth for all the extra care.
