Elizabeth “Betty” Niedhammer, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 1st with her family by her side. Born in Fort Yukon, Alaska on January 31st, 1938, to her parents, Curtis Wells and Elizabeth Thompson Wells.
Betty grew up riding dog sleds and heading out fur trapping for weeks at a time, before her mom moved her to Fairbanks for a better education. After graduating high school, Betty met her beloved husband of 49 years, Arnold “JoJo,” and moved back to Rotterdam, where they started a family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Betty was passionate about her NY Giants, she loved F1 racing and never passed up a good party. Betty enjoyed her later years with her loved companion, Bruce, while traveling, camping and just having fun; he was always there for her.
Betty is survived by her sons, Arnold (Cheryl) and James (Waldine); her grandchildren, Sara (Curtis), Eric, and James; her 5 great-grandchildren; her 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her husband, Arnold; and her siblings, Madeline, Doris, Harold, Arthur, Grafton and James.
A private Graveside Ceremony will be held in the near future.
