Eleonora Donato, 90, wife of the late Guerino “Jerry” Donato, of Schenectady, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025 at home. Born March 24, 1935, in Pianopoli, Province of Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppina (Madia) Mastroianni.
Eleonora came to this country in 1952. She held a variety of positions throughout her life, but the most important roles she held were those of beloved wife, mother, and Nana. She was passionate about cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and opening her home to her loved ones. Her heart was in her home and garden, and she loved caring for, hosting, and helping her family and neighborhood however she could. Before her illness, she was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Rotterdam.
She is survived by daughters Josephine (Thomas) Vincent of Schenectady and Darlina (Andrew) Barber of Florida; granddaughters Christina and Angela Vincent of Schenectady; brother Anthony (Nancy) Mastroianni of Florida; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband Guerino, she was predeceased by her daughter Maria and her sister Maria Tote.
Family and friends are invited to attend Visitation on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12306.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Road.
Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Central Avenue, Schenectady NY.
