Elena B. (Luciani) Testa, 88, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility after a brief illness. She was born on April 15, 1927 in Perugia, Italy and was the daughter of the late Angelo Luciani and Emma (Sebastiani) Vernacchio (Anthony). Elena graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1946. She went on to work at the General Electric Company as a stenographer until she was united in marriage to her beloved husband, John R. Testa on October 12, 1947. They shared over 59 years of marriage until his passing on February 13, 2007. After several years of raising her family, Elena returned to work at the General Electric Company and celebrated over 25 years of dedicated service. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter and grandmother who put everyone else before herself. Elena was a wonderful cook who always had a hot meal waiting for you at her home. She had a gift of gardening and growing beautiful flowers in her backyard. Many Summer days were enjoyed sitting in the backyard admiring her garden. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Elena was a communicant ofMt. Carmel Church in Schenectady where she was a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors, Christ Child Society and she was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. She was predeceased by her parents Angelo Luciani and Emma Vernacchio and her step-father, Anthony Vernacchio. She was the loving mother of four children, David Testa of Amsterdam, Mary (Michael) Caprara of Scotia, Joseph (Ann) Testa of Rotterdam Junction, and Paul (Deborah) Testa of Cobleskill; loving grandmother ofNicholas, Christina, Michelle, Stephen, Michael and Emily Testa; her brother, Gustino (Georgianna) Luciani of Schenectady and her sister-in-law, Norma Reiman of Cupertino, CA; several nieces and nephews; and loving friends, Virginia Tariello and Virginia Paolelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. in Schenectady on Wednesday, February 17 at 11am. Calling hours will be at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home from 9:15-10:15am prior to the mass. Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Schenectady.
