Elena "Chic" H (Chiacchiaretta) Barbieri

Rotterdam – Elena “Chic” Barbieri, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017. Born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Margurette Chiacchiaretta, Chic was a lifelong area resident. For many years, Chic owned and operated Elena’s Embroidery out of her home. She was very active in the Rotterdam Seniors where she thoroughly enjoyed painting classes. Chic loved playing cards with her friends. She was an avid artist, joke teller, bowler and golfer, achieving 2 holes-in-one during her lifetime. Chic is predeceased by her daughter, Barbara A. Kwiatkowski. She is also predeceased by two sisters, Fay Della Villa and Nora Messercola. Chic leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, John A. Corraro, her grandson, Michael D. Bailey (Francesca D’Amico-Bailey), her son-in-law, John J. Kwiatkowski, her sister, Theresa Fusco (Tony), and 3 great grandchildren, Santino, Michael and Nicolai Bailey, as well as several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 29th from 9-11am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. A memorial service will begin promptly at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chic’s name can be made to the Rotterdam Seniors, 2639 Hamburg St., Schenectady, NY 12303.
