Eleanor R. Johnson, 86, formerly of Ballston Lake, passed peacefully at home, on Friday, September 21, 2018. Eleanor was born in Scotia, NY, and graduated from St. Columba School in 1949. Her career in telephone communication spanned 40 years, starting with the New York Telephone Co. until she retired from Verizon in 1998. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church and the Nifty-Fifty Club at Our Lady of Grace. Eleanor also donated much of her time to her church, the Schenectady City Mission, Haven, the Salvation Army, Capital City Rescue Mission in Albany the Sacred Heart Food Pantry and St. Columba. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, gardening and taking trips. Eleanor’s beloved husband, Robert Allan Johnson, whom she married on October 20, 1962, died in 1999. She was also predeceased by her parents, Zephyr and Clara Gardner Lussier, her brothers, Alfred Lussier and Edward Lussier and sisters, Margaret Cornell, Joan Joralemon, Theresa Pucci and Sister Mary Clare Lussier of the Sisters of Carondelet. She is survived by her brother, Paul Lussier (Angie) as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, 7:45 am from the funeral home, followed at 9 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, 73, Midline Rd in Ballston Lake. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Please consider a memorial donation to Community Hospice, 310 South Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
