Rotterdam - Eleanor J. Costanzo, 91, passed away on March 4, 2015.Born in Pittston PA, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Angelo and Helen Zanta.Upon graduating from Pittston High school, she moved to Schenectady NY in 1941.Eleanor worked at the General Electric during World War II, and later for the State of NY, Department of Taxation and Finance for 25 years.She was a communicant at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Schenectady and belonged to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seniors. Called Gramma C by many, she was totally committed to her family who she loved with all her heart.When you didn't see her crocheting one of her many afghans, she would be making her special cookies for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 29 years Charles Costanzo, who passed away in 1975, and by brother Joseph Zanta, and sister Ida Lapi. Eleanor is survived by her son, Chuck Costanzo and his wife Alice of New Jersey, and her daughter Mary Helen Lee and her husband John of Schenectady.She is also survived by five grand children: Gina Costanzo, Rosa Burricelli and her husband Jeff, and Tony Costanzo and his wife Carmela of New Jersey and Daniel and Alyssa Lee of the New York metro area, and four great-grand children: Dominic, Joey, Vinny, and Julianna Burricelli of New Jersey.Eleanor is also survived by her sister Helen Visconti and her husband Rocco and her brothers Raymond Zanta and his wife Isabelle, and Angelo Zanta and his wife Joanne, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday from 8-10 a.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pleasant St., Schenectady. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude's Hospital, 50 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 3810
