Elaine (Foti) Voss

Elaine Voss, 88, of Henry Street, died peacefully at home on January 5, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer. Elaine was born to the late Vivian and Charles Foti and was a lifelong resident of Schenectady who spent her winters in Delray Beach, Florida. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and worked for the Golub Corporation for many years.She was an active member of the Sons of Italy attending most events with her good friend, Edie D'Errico.She was also a member of the Elks LORE and thoroughly enjoyed serving on various committees and attending functions sponsored by those organizations. She was predeceased by her adoring husband of 53 years, Theodore Voss, her sister, Doris Harwood, her son Donn Wright, and her grandson, Joseph Wright. Elaine is survived by her sister Meriam Murphy; her daughters, Cathy Wright and Lori (Larry) Zyra; her beautiful and loving grandchildren, Nicole Wright, David Wright, Zachory Hyson, Alexander Hyson, Theodore Hyson, Alex Zyra, and Julianna Zyra; her nephews, Charles Harwood and William Harwood; her nieces, Deborah Wayne and Karen Murphy; her cousins, Marion and Robert Foti; and many friends made during the course of a long, happy and well-lived life.She is also survived by her granddogs, Lexi, Zoey, Molly, Izabella, and Stella. Elaine was loved by all who knew her. Her life revolved around her family and friends.She was always quick with a smile and a joke, loved to dance, and was the life of every party.She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends, Shirley Canam, Joe Guilmette, and Evelyn and Bill Ruth. Relatives and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10 at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady.The funeral will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, January 11 at the funeral home, to be followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 35 Furman St., Schenectady.
