Mr. Edward Slowek, age 97, of Gullott Dr., Rotterdam, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Monday afternoon, April 13, 2015. He was born on October 27, 1917 in Schenectady son of the late Peter and Frances (Madej) Slowek and educated in local schools.He was united in marriage with the former Josephine Leonowicz on September 2, 1939, who preceded him in death on September 8, 2008; a blessed union of 69 years.He retired at the age 55 as a welder from the General Electric Company, following several years of dedicated service. Mr. Slowek loved the outdoors, his job, all his nieces and nephews and going to the casino.Edward was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church.He treasured the times spent at his camp on Lake Sacandaga along with trips with his wife to Mohegan Sun and Las Vegas.He will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Irene Desell, William Slovek, Sophie Madej, Mary Rose, Frances Drozdowski, Rose Nozny and Helen Gray. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady, on Monday morning, April 20, 2015 from 8:30-9:30 am.The funeral will commence at 10:00 am from Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Schenectady with Fr.
