Edward G. Pereicich, 94, of Rotterdam, passed peacefully at home on December 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Nicholas and Antonia Vidulich Pereicich. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and served in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945. Following his discharge, Edward graduated from the apprentice program at General Electric. He worked as a Machinist before becoming a Cost Estimator at Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna. He retired in 1985 with 39 years of service. He was a member of St. Madeleine Sophie Church and was a volunteer fireman with Rotterdam Dist. #2 for 43 years. Edward loved people, and “never spoke a bad word”. For 40 years he looked forward to his Friday night poker games with his friends. In addition to his parents, Edward was also predeceased by his brothers; Nicholas Pereicich, John Pereicich and sisters; Ann Smith, Mary Ionatti and Nettie Pereicich. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Florence Viscusi Pereicich, two daughters; Catherine J. Spears Cannavo of Rotterdam and Margaret S. Porter (Jack) of Glenville, his brother; Joseph Pereicich of Amsterdam, two sisters; Virginia Van Avrey of Ft. Plain, NY and Delores Pereicich of Amsterdam, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, 10 am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd. in Guilderland. Burial, with military honors, will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Schenectady City Mission, 425 Hamilton St. Schenectady NY 12305.
