Edward Geisel passed away peacefully on June 10th, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 16th, 1952 to the late Donald and Rita (Kilma) Geisel, Ed was a lifelong resident of the Capital District. He graduated from St. James Elementary School and Cardinal McCluskey High School, and later went on to graduate from Paul Smiths College and West Virginia University. After starting out as a land surveyor, Ed began his career with the City of Albany Fire and EMS. He was with the Albany Fire Department for 37 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. Over his years of service, he also worked as a paramedic. He was a well-respected colleague and enjoyed his job.
Ed was a man of many interests, which included earning a black belt in karate, land surveying, biking, baseball, hunting, reading and watching classic movies. Most of all, Ed’s main love was his wife and his sons. He always enjoyed attending his sons’ various school and sporting events they were involved in. He especially enjoyed spending many summers vacationing in Cape Cod with his family. Throughout his life, he always carried a special place in his heart for his four-legged friends: his childhood dog, Lucky, and his cats, Baw, Phillip, and Henry.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 39 years, Mary (Lee) Geisel, his sons, Brian and Sean (Lexie), his brothers, Donald (Susan) and Raymond (Jackie), as well as extended members of the Geisel and Lee Families.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026, from 3-7 PM, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, NY.
