Schenectady – Edmund A. Adamkiewicz Jr., 86, passed away Saturday January 16, 2021. He was born in Schenectady on July 5, 1934 to Edmund and Victoria (Strenkowski) Adamkiewicz Sr. Ed went to Schenectady schools and joined the United States Air Force in June of 1954. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska as a fuel supply specialist and after two years transferred to Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire where he received the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in January of 1958. Ed married Claudette (Gosselin) in November of 1958. They have two children, Susan Lynn Adamkiewicz of Stephenson, VA and Michael Gerard of Forest City, NC. Unfortunately this union ended in 1977. Eddie went on to marry Nancy Crankshaw in 1993. They built their home in Galway before Nancy passed away on September 11, 2015. Eddie was an avid sports fan especially the New York Yankees and the New England patriots. He will also be remembered for his love of dogs especially EllieMae his favorite and last dog before becoming ill. Eddie also leaves behind his brother Joseph (Donna) Adamkiewicz of Ghent, NY and his sister Mary-Anne (Thomas) Zalondek of Glenville, NY, niece Deborah Lynn Zalondek, along with several nieces and nephews. Burial with military honors will be private at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
