Edith D’Errico, 98, of Rotterdam, passed peacefully at the home of her daughter on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Born in Gloversville NY, Edith was the daughter of John and Theresa De Ciero. She was raised in East Orange, NJ and returned to Gloversville at the age of 14. She graduated from Gloversville High School and attended Spencer Business School and Schenectady Co. Community College. She married Joseph (Smokey) D’Errico on June 7, 1942. Edith worked in Crescendo Gloves computer room for 5 years. She later worked at General Electric for 19 years as a supervisor in the Data Entry computer room, during which time she was awarded manager of the year. Upon her retirement from GE, Edith worked at Bank of America in Data entry until her retirement in 2013 at the age of 91. Edith loved to sing. While she was in high school she was a member of the High School and Church choir and competed with Sweet Adelines in National competitions. She was a member of the Sons of Italy Gabriele D’Annunzio Lodge in Rotterdam and of the Catholic War Veterans in Gloversville. She was very proud to be an American citizen. In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband Joseph D’Errico, who died in 1981, her sister; Clara Rzziello, brother; John De Ciero, her dear friend; Ed Panfil, nephews; Joey Roy, Steve D’Errico. Richard Rizziello and Tony D’Errico and her niece; Stephanie D’Errico as well as several brothers in law and sisters in law. She is survived by her three children Robert D’Errico, Jo Anne (Daniel) Wheaton, and John (Vicki Garvin) D’Errico; 4 grandsons Anthony (Amanda) D”Errico, Jonathan (Kelly Walsh) D”Errico, Christopher Wheaton and Michael Wheaton, 2 great-grandsons, Camden and Everett D”Errico, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the spring. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice, especially Danielle, Chi, Mary, and Salon for the wonderful care and heartfelt compassion.
