Drusilla A (Culver) Massaro

d. November 2, 2013

Drusilla A. Culver Massaro, 82 of Ormond Beach, Fla. passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. Born in Schenectady, Drusilla was the daughter of the late Clarence and Grace Hallenbeck Culver. "Dru" was a graduate of Draper High School in Rotterdam and worked as the manager of the Mutual of Omaha Tele-Trip office at the Albany International Airport. Dru was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who were warmed by her smile. She loved life and lived out loud. Her strength in political discourse was only surpassed by her strength in her Christian faith. She was very proud of her family heritage, tracking back to the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock. Her affiliations ranged from the Daughter of the American Revolution to the Needlepoint Guild of America. Her children and her grand children were the focus of her life and never missed an opportunity to tell everyone she met how proud she was of them. We will miss talking and being with her and we know she is watching over us and will always be there to help guide us. She was a beacon of light to all who met her and was never afraid of any challenge. In addition to her parents, Drusilla was also predeceased by her brother David Culver. She is survived by her beloved husband Lawrence Richard Massaro, her daughter Roxanne Grace Ray of Flower Mound, TX, her son Lawrence Culver Massaro of Phoenix, AZ, one granddaughter, Morgan Grace Braun, and her husband Chris, of Flower Mound, TX, and two great- grandchildren, Cole Douglas Braun and Cooper Lawrence Braun. Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Friday at 10 am. Drusilla will be buried with her parents and brother at Prospect Hill Cemetery following the services. As a polio survivor, Drusilla was committed to eliminating this terrible disease. To keep her dream moving forward, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Rotarian sponsored foundation Polio Plus program at www.endpolio.org.
